As we read through this chapter together, what do you find significant? To get us started, I really loved the statement on page 2 where Baker quotes Leu as saying, "The Internet is a reading and literacy issue..."
Of course, our agreement or lack thereof with this statement wholly depends on our definition of literacy.
So what is your definition of literacy? And do you find the Internet to be a literacy issue?
Quick response for now and more coming soon...Yes--I do think the internet is a literacy issue which requires specific skills to use. By helping our students be critical consumers of the information on the internet, we are providing them skills useful in life. We also need to teach them how to use the internet to conduct searches for relevant information.
