How does your school identify tech specialists and define their roles?

Technology Coaches, Information Technology Resource Teachers (ITRTs), System Operators--what do these individuals have in common?  Perhaps they are all teachers who specialize in assisting their colleagues with technology training and technology support.  Are they really different names for the same position?

As we think about mobile learning and the rapid increase in technology usage in schools, what do you call those whose job is to integrate technology in the classroom and make it readily available to teachers?

What is the job description of your technology person?

Ironically after starting this discussion, I read an article in eSchool News that tells how Tech leaders and coordinators have proposed effective approaches to managing technology and projects.

"eSchool News asked tech coordinators from around the country to offer advice to their fellow tech coordinators. What is the best part of being a technology director? What is the most challenging? What can you do to make your efforts as successful as possible?"  See the article "Valuable advice from tech coordinators" to read the answers to these questions.

Are you surprised by any of the tech coordinators' responses?

Do you have other valuable advice to share from your own experiences?
