Computer Adaptive Math Assessment Question

Hi,

Has anyone used a computer adaptive math assessment for grades 3-8 to get a better read on how students in your district are doing?  What have you used, and do you find it worthwhile/helpful?  I'm talking about SMI, iReady, NWEA's Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), Star Math, etc.  Thanks!

Our school uses STAR math. At the moment we only use it for placement and post-testing for courses without a state test. For those purposes it has worked very well for us. It has a lot more potential than we are currently using to set goals, focus instruction and remediate skills. My only complaint is that the students can not use a calculator, which does not compare to all of their other assessments to date.

I am still wondering about this question -- anyone want to venture a comment?

We are now piloting ALEKS math on a very small scale -- but we just got started, so not much to report there.  We looked a bit at Think Through Math, but they don't offer a free trial, and we're not ready to purchase.
