Who was a Luddite? I love it when I learn a new word, and I needed to know the definition of this word to fully appreciate this news article.
In fact, when I started to read Learned Luddites (The Economist, October 12, 2013) I jumped right over the word Luddite and figured the concern of educator's looking at online or mobile course delivery was a simple lack of understanding of how to use the required technology.
It caught me by surprise and made me laugh to read that "Some academics worry that they will be sacked and replaced by videos of their more photogenic colleagues."
Students are asking for both online and mobile courses. They hope it will make education more accessible and less expensive.
As an educator what is your fear about creating online or mobile courses for the 21st Century student? If you have created an online or mobile course, how did you get over your fear and what advice can you offer others?
