I have noticed that whenever I'm hosting an activity for kids that involves maps, the kids are completely mesmerized! I find maps fascinating, and I think other people do too! The problem, in my opinion, is simply that we don't use maps enough in our day-to-day life or in the daily classroom. Do you have any suggestions on how to incorporate maps into the classroom or in after school activities?
I also have a question about today's technology, such as GPS programs. Do you think GPS apps will help students better understand map reading, or do you think the apps' step-by-step directions will render it unnecessary? For either response, how do you think we can either use new technology or counter it in the classroom?
