Hi! I'm teaching for the Duke TIP Summer Studies program for gifted middle school students. In my fiction unit this week, I want my students to learn about voice and experiment with it in their writing. Any successful ideas on how to teach this— in an interactive way if possible, given the age group and intensity of this summer program— are very welcome!
You certainly have a challenging and rewarding summer teaching gifted middle school students. Our Content Partner ReadWriteThink offers many resources for creative writing. I did a search on "voice" and found a list of 156 resources that may be useful. See Results for Teaching "Voice" from ReadWriteThink.
Please share your experience with using some of these resources. Hopefully, other language arts teachers will offer some good suggestions.
