I'm excited to be a part of the Thinkfinity community.  What are some of the best ways to use Thinkfinity as a homeschool parent/teacher?

WOW, you are in for a treat.  First, I'd have you check out the Thinkfinity, Your Professional Learning Community (PLC) group to learn to use Thinkfinity Community efficiently and effectively.

Then I'd consider checking out the Community Hub and down the right column you will find Featured Groups, all maintained by our Content Partners, those knowledgeable organizations who write the standards and provide us with over 10,000 free resources. You can start discussions in their groups and ask them questions in their subject areas.  They love to hear from members and will respond.

If you have more general education questions start a discussion in the Community Hub.  And if you just want to talk with other members off educational topics, we have The Lounge.

These places will get you started.  Oh, and there are lots of archived webinars available in the Professional Development space.

Welcome to Thinkfinity!  As Jane mentioned, you will find lots of help and resources here.

On the homepage, I am sure you have seen the Thinkfinity Resources Keyword search that provides access to thousands of Thinkfinity resources (lessons, interactives, videos, podcasts, e-sheets, etc.).  You may like the Thinkfinity Collections Index that references monthly theme related collections.

To search for a specific resource type (lessons, interactives, etc.), you can use the search boxes located on the individual Content Partner sites.  The Resources tab in the red navigation bar at the top of the page takes you to a description of the Content Partners and links to their websites and groups.  In addition, the Content Partners are listed at the bottom of each page of the Thinkfinity Community.  We have several Affiliates (also located at the bottom of each page of the Thinkfinity Community) that have resources available on their sites.  There are Supporting Contributors with resources that you don't want to miss.

Just for further assistance, you will notice the word Places in the red navigation bar at the top of the homepage of Thinkfinity.  Places are group locations within the site.  If you click on Places, one of the options is Spaces.  There are 4 major Spaces--the Community Hub (for general educational discussions), the Lounge (for discussing anything outside of education), Professional Development (for educational opportunities such as webinars), and the Help Center (for assistance with questions related to the Community).

The Search Community box in the upper right corner of any page is a great place to put in keywords to find parts of the Community quickly.  You have a personal Inbox that shows your participation throughout the Community.

As you locate resources, be sure to Bookmark them for future reference.  You may want to refer to the document How To: Add a Bookmark to utilize this feature to save Bookmarks to your personal space within the Community.

I recommend using the Thinkfinity Community Help Index if you want quick answers to your questions.  We also are glad for you to post your questions in the Help Center.  Our Community Hosts monitor the site and try to respond as quickly as possible.

We appreciate your interest and participation in the Thinkfinity Community.  We are happy that you want to use Thinkfinity for Homeschooling.

Please let us know if we can help you locate specific resources.
