I have not been on this site for about a year. I used to be able to search by keyword and the type of object I was interested in (e.g. learning object, lesson plan, picture, activity, etc.). I don't see that option anymore. Is there still a way to do this kind of search somehow? I am particularly looking to search for learning objects (most of them are Flash type apps). There used to be one for simple machines, music baseball, and lots of others.
I understand your confusion especially after the new site launched August 15 and the look of everything changed. There is a short course that you may consider taking online to learn more about the Community. See Thinkfinity, Your Professional Learning Community (PLC).
On the homepage, I am sure you have seen the Thinkfinity Resources Keyword search that provides access to thousands of Thinkfinity resources (lessons, interactives, videos, podcasts, e-sheets, etc.). The filter that allowed you to search by type is no longer available. You may like the Thinkfinity Collections Index that references monthly theme related collections.
To search for a specific resource type (lessons, interactives, etc.), you can use the search boxes located on the individual Content Partner sites. The Resources tab in the red navigation bar at the top of the page takes you to a description of the Content Partners and links to their websites and groups. In addition, the Content Partners are listed at the bottom of each page of the Thinkfinity Community. We have several Affiliates (also located at the bottom of each page of the Thinkfinity Community) that have resources available on their sites. There are Supporting Contributors with resources that you don't want to miss.
Just for further assistance, you will notice the word Places in the red navigation bar at the top of the homepage of Thinkfinity. Places are group locations within the site. If you click on Places, one of the options is Spaces. There are 4 major Spaces--the Community Hub (for general educational discussions), the Lounge (for discussing anything outside of education), Professional Development (for educational opportunities such as webinars), and the Help Center (for assistance with questions related to the Community).
The Search Community box in the upper right corner of any page is a great place to put in keywords to find parts of the Community quickly. You have a personal Inbox that shows your participation throughout the Community.
Invention Playhouse (Interactive)
Perfect Pitch (Music baseball interactive)
Some of these I found by using keywords in the homepage Thinkfinity Resources Keywords search and others I knew from being familiar with the lessons. If you still cannot find the learning objects that you used previously, I'll be happy to assist you.
As you locate resources, be sure to Bookmark them for future reference. You may want to refer to the document How To: Add a Bookmark to utilize this feature to save Bookmarks to your personal space within the Community.
I recommend using the Thinkfinity Community Help Index if you want quick answers to your questions. We also are glad for you to post your questions in the Help Center as you did today. Our Community Hosts monitor the site and try to respond as quickly as possible.
We appreciate your interest and participation in the Thinkfinity Community. We are happy that you are using the Thinkfinity resources in your teaching.
Please let us know if we can help you locate other specific resources.
