My husband is trying to teach our 3 year old and 9 month old how to speak Hindi. I have done several online searches trying to find some engaging resources to learn Hindi. I love the resources that are bilingual that show the words in English and in Hindi.
What are your favorite resources or websites to teach your students another language, whether it is Spanish, Hindi, Chinese or your native tongue?
It's amazing to think children so young can learn Hindi, but I have always heard that the best time to teach multiple languages to children is when they are pre-school and/or elementary age. I applaud your efforts.
I wondered if you would share the online resources you found for teaching Hindi to your children.
I have to say, that so far, I haven’t found one particular resource that I think “wow, this is perfect!” In my head, I was looking for something along the line of StarFalls but with the Hindi alphabet and words.
I did find an interactive website that at first glance seemed good because it taught some body parts, clothes items and directions in Hindi. However, we suspect that it left a small virus or tracking on our computer so we stopped going there. I have ordered a book from amazon titled “My First Book of Hindi Words (A+ Books: Bilingual Picture Dictionaries)”. I should receive it any day now and will let you know if it is good. I also found a site, http://www.gnaana.com/, that looks promising since it has bilingual books. Hopefully, other community members have some more suggestions.
Hi Louise, Thanks for that tip! We plan to buy an iPad one of these days. Our hang up is that being a military family and moving around overseas we would only be able to use the iPad in the country where we purchased it since the SIM card is specific to one country. Maybe some company will make it easy to access the Internet so you can travel internationally with your iPad. Does anyone have tips on this?
