It has been said that the jobs you are preparing your students for in their future do not even exist today.
Q: What are the jobs our students will hold?
A: FIO jobs, or more completely labeled, Figure It Out jobs.
Apply for one of these jobs, ask for a job description and you will likely get the response, "I don't know what the job is. You are to find the problem, seek the 'sweet spot', and create alternative solutions. Can you be comfortable with that?" If yes, the job is yours.
How can we prepare our students for these nonlinear, critical and creative thinking jobs? And what degree should they seek?
