    Hello Fellow Staff Developers,

I have been a Community Host for Verizon Thinkfinity since it began in the Spring 2010.  I enjoy meeting new people online, participating in a variety of groups and discussions, locating educational resources for members, working on PD materials, and helping answer questions in the Help Center.

After teaching English and Technology to middle and high school students for 35 years, I decided to try something new and different.  Currently, I work as a technology consultant and teach online courses for the Virginia Department of Education as well as computer workshops at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville, VA (my hometown).  I have written numerous computer manuals to use in teaching computer software.

I look forward to sharing ideas and resources with other members of this group.  It's great having this Community as a place for professional educators to connect.

Hello Everyone!  I am a Thinkfinity Community Host and feel very blessed to have the Thinkfinity Community since it keeps me connected to the education world.  I have 4 kids and 2 are home full time with me so I really cherish my time working in the Community. Also, my husband is in the Navy so it is comforting to know that even when we move, the Community is right where I left it…online;)

During my 16 years in education, I have… taught primary and intermediate grades in ELL and Bilingual Classrooms, earned my principal certification and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with an ESL endorsement, worked on various educational grants at Arizona State University, served as a Thinkfinity Cadre Trainer and taught online courses through Grand Canyon University.

I look forward to hearing everyone’s tips and tricks on sharing Thinkfinity and other cool techie tools with teachers.

    Cheers, Tammy

Hi there! My name is Krissy Machamer and I am a Media Specialist in Zanesville, Ohio, at Maysville Local Schools. I work with library resources and help teachers integrate technology into their curriculum.

I use Thinkfinity to help teachers find quality resources so they aren't always Googling things.

      Hi Krissy,

It's great to have you in the group and to know that you are sharing Thinkfinity resources with teachers in your school.  The lessons, interactives, videos, etc. are prepared by professionals who understand the needs of educators.  Many of these resources are linked to State Standards and the Common Core which make them even more valuable for teachers.  I'm glad you are encouraging teachers to use Thinkfinity as opposed to Googling things because what Thinkfinity offers is high quality material that can be trusted to meet the needs of students in various subject areas at specific grade levels.

    Hello there:

My name is Angela VanFossen, and I teach middle school art with Danville Public Schools.  I am a Thinkfinity member, but not a community host.  I use the site to find suitable art resources for my students and lessons.  I have told my fellow teachers about the site to help them find information and resources.

    Hi all,

I love the Thinkfinity Community and all the opportunities to collaborate with a variety of groups! I look forward to all the great resources and ideas that come from this group. I will also share whatever I develop as I provide trainings here in South Dakota.

I am Marcia Torgrude, an education technology specialist and K-12 math specialist, working for TIE (Technology and Innovation in Education). I have been with TIE for 14 years providing professional development throughout our region helping teachers incorporate the use of 21st century skills in the classroom. I am also a math and technology coach. This allows me to work one on one with K-12 teachers in the classroom. I was part of a grant for 6 years that focused on CGI (Cognitively Guided Instruction) in the K-5 classroom. During this grant, I provided training and one-on-one coaching for K-5 math teachers in 13 different school districts. Now I am working with a school district helping them implement Investigations K-5 and CPM (College Preparatory Math) 6-12. Both are inquiry based math curricula and are completely aligned with the new CCSS and Standards of Mathematical Practice.

For as long as I can remember, I have provided training - both face to face and online - for Thinkfinity. I was one of the national cadre trainers and was the South Dakota State administrator. I continue to be an advocate for Thinkfinity - both for its great resources and as a community! I am facilitating an online course as we speak for SD teachers. Then in December I will be providing a training for pre-service teachers at Dakota Wesleyan University.

    Hello everyone,

I'm a pre-service teacher studying at Juniata college, and want to teach high school history/social studies.  I've found this site to be very useful for planning content.

Thanks so much for gathering these great resources into one place!

Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself.

I'm a retired stockbroker that has authored financial planning programs for Westinghouse Learning,The Airline Pilots Association, The Grumman Corp., Safeway Stores and other companies.

Back in '74 I invented NETWORTH as a board game to teach professionals the capital markets,

    money markets, and commodity markets.

It was redesigned in '82 for a general audience and was computerized in '96. NETWORTH

has recently been updated in 2012.

It has been demonstrated 3 times at National Academy Foundation conferences

It will become an app for tablets that students can use as a competitive

exercise that has student teams managing $1,000,000 in different ways

trying to achieve the highest networth using different timelines.

    Hello everyone!

I am the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher (ITRT) for Essex County Public Schools in Tappahannock, VA. It's part of the Northern Neck - if you were heading out of Gloucester, VA towards Fredericksburg, VA you'd have to go through Tappahannock on Route 17. How did I get here? I relocated from Newport News, VA to King William County and transferred from Newport New Public Schools to Essex County. It's a much smaller school district and you get to know everyone very quickly.

I've been teaching for 22 years and started my teaching in NYC where I was born and raised. I was the 2006 York Region Library Media Specialist of the Year, I am a National Board Certified Teacher, a Discovery Education Network STAR and striving to be the best ITRT I can be. :-)

I'm an education professor at Austin College in Sherman, TX.  Each semester I introduce Thinkfinity to a new group of prospective teachers as part of a workshop I do.  I'll be doing this presentation in late January, and now that I've turned in fall grades I wanted to visit the site and see what is new since September.  I was really pleased to see this group!

      Hi Barbara,

Thanks for introducing yourself and sharing Thinkfinity with prospective teachers.  We have tried to keep the training resources updated since the launch of the new site August 2012.  Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help with your trainings in January.

I have had the privilege of sharing Thinkfinity with graduate students in Virginia colleges and universities who are preparing for teaching careers.  They have been pleased with the Thinkfinity resources and Content Partner offerings.  I believe Thinkfinity is a wonderful Community for those entering the education field.  I am thrilled that you introduce Thinkfinity to your students.

Hi!  My name is Kj.  I have been an adult literacy tutor for over 30 years! I was blessed to teach Learning to Read classes at a charter school for 10 years, and I was a Title ! teacher for 10 years in the public school system.  We moved to North Carolina 5 years ago.  I have been volunteering with the Rockingham County Literacy Project since then.  In September, I was asked to train the volunteer adult literacy tutors.  I have one "class" under my belt.  I am looking for some good on-line tools and, because I am a "relational" person, some collaboration and cohorts in crime!

Hello everyone! My name is Andreana. Iabsolutely love learning about and exploring new technologies. I was introduced to Thinkfinity about three years ago when I became the technology integration coach for my district. Prior to accepting this postion, I was an elementary classroom teacher for nearly 10 years; during that time I taught grades 4 and 5. This year I am taking on my first-time role as a adjunct for a technolgy course that is being offered within my district. I think the Thinkfinity site has an abundance of information and resources that will greatly enhance the lessons plans that educators develop. I look forward to sharing and gaining thoughts/ideas that will attract newcomers to the Thinkfinity site.

      Hi Gina,

We are glad that you are back.  This group was created to assist trainers and coaches as they share the Thinkfinity Community with teachers, administrators, students (over age 13), and parents.  As you conduct trainings, if you need additional resources, please let us know.  The Trainers and Coaches group provides a forum for trainers to collaborate and share their experiences.  You are not too late because this group is ongoing and here to stay.

We appreciate your interest and participation as an ITRT from Virginia.  I have always lived in Virginia and think our state has much to offer from the mountains to the ocean.  It's great to meet a fellow Virginian.

      Best regards,

      Lynne
