I am trying to have my students create a screencast, but our school does not have Java installed on any of the computers. We are not allowed to install on our own and do not even have the ability to install or even update what is installed. I have asked that it be installed, but no luck yet. Are there any online tools like screen-o-matic and screenr that do not use Java? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you for helping. There is only Internet Explorer on my computer, and I do not know the version. Java does not seem to be installed, there are many programs that I cannot use because they tell me that Java is not detected. I also have Windows 8 installed on a Dell PC. I hope this helps.
You likely have IE 10 as you are working on a computer with Windows 8. By default Windows 8 was supposed to come loaded with IE 10 on it already. This may be one of your issues as well since IE 10 is brand new and most developers have not written anything for it yet nor updated their software to be compatible. I would recommend that you get with your IT at the school and ask them to ensure that JAVA is compatible with your browser. Also just to check the version of your IE you can click on the drop down next to the blue "?" and select "About Internet Explorer" and it would give you your version number.
If you have access to the control panel on your PC you may go there and see if there is an entry for JAVA there. That will tell you for sure if JAVA is even on the PC.
