Kids posting photos on blogs

For the bloggers out there: are your students allowed to post photos on their blogs? What kinds of guidance do you offer them—for example, are they allowed to upload photos of friends? Do you have classroom equipment to help students create photos to accompany their blog posts?

Our parents have to sign a waiver either granting or denying use of their child's photo for publication. As a teacher I could technically allow those with permission to post a photo, however, I would feel bad about the few who weren't allowed. Teachers try to keep everything fair. Then in the back of my mind, if I used photos, I would worry about the safety of my 7 & 8 year olds with their photo on my website. I feel pretty safe just allowing names to be posted. The students love seeing their name on the website, so for now - no photo works for me.

I haven't delved into the complicated issue of posting kids' pictures online.  Administration is very apprehensive about any online collaboration, so I have to approach it carefully.  This is a project for the upcoming year!  I'd like to hear more about others' ideas and experiences.
