Have you ever taken students on a virtual fieldtrip?

National Geographic Education is working with the National Park Foundation to host an electronic field trip that will accompany the upcoming BioBlitz in Saguaro, Natl. Park, Arizona. During the BioBlitz, hundreds of local teachers and students will join forces to help scientists catalog the biodiversity of the Sonoran desert environment.
Classes across the country are invited to participate through the electronic field trip, which will take students who can't make it to Arizona on a virtual tour of Saguaro's cacti and other iconic species, on October 21. It's a free, richly educational, experience that curious young minds won't soon forget. (You can register here if interested.)

Since this is National Geographic Education's first time hosting an electronic field trip I'm curious: Have you ever participated in an electronic field trip or similar remote learning experience with your students? How did it go?
