My name is Samantha Sheehan and I'm new to the ThinkFinity community!
I'm currently a private school teacher for Third Grade in Queens, NY. I will be moving to California this July. I already have State Certification in California (Mult-Subject) and I'm planning to get my Single Subject Matter in English. Basically, I'm an Out-of-State applicant that is looking for ANY info (about EDJOIN, job openings/opportunities, advice, ANYTHING!)
Please feel free to add some advice and help a new teacher out!

Probably not the best time to be coming out. California state budget has been in trouble for years and I am waiting to see what hits education will take during this year budget. Can not say about Orange or Riverside counties but here in LA county there is another round of teacher layoffs scheduled at the biggest district LAUSD. Smaller districts are in the same mode as LAUSD. Here, opening will only occurs if a teacher leaves at the end of her/his contract (end of August). There are no known openings at this point.
As for Enjoin, you just need to join at http://www.edjoinadmin.org/ and select Job seekers can create accounts to apply for jobs by clicking here. Yes, that is a good place to look for opening in California.
