Many children love to express themselves in artistic ways, such as painting. There’s inherent fun in creating with paints and brushes. But what about words? How do you encourage your children to express themselves creatively in writing? How do you show children that writing is more than book reports and term papers?

Wonderopolis encourages families to explore writing in fun and interesting ways. Whether it’s using a hamburger to model paragraph format or exploring poetry through haiku or acrostic poems, Wonderopolis hopes to make writing an enjoyable family activity.

On Tuesday, April 26, Wonderopolis will publish a special Wonder of the Day: How Do You Write a TV Script? Michael Price, NCFL supporter and Emmy-winning writer and co-executive producer of The Simpsons, will show his Wonderopolis® friends what a TV comedy writer's day is like.

Michael will show Wonder Friends a day in the life of a TV writer in a special video he filmed for Wonderopolis. He explains what it's like to write a script for a television show, and Wonderopolis offers tips for getting your family started on beginning your own scriptwriting adventure!

In the meantime, we want to hear from you! What tips and tricks can you share for engaging your kids in writing activities? What resources or activities have you found that inspired your children to put pen to paper?
