Challenge your high schools students ages 13-19 in the U.S. to take the National Financial Capability Challenge, an online test to show knowledge of personal finance terms and concepts, available now through April 8, 2011. The test was developed by the President's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy. This is a free program for students, but educators must register in order for their students to participate. See guidelines at http://challenge.treas.gov/about.aspx.
To help students prepare to take the test, the NFCC has published an Educator Toolkit that provides links to 30 different lessons and activities designed to help students gain knowledge of personal finance.
Let us hear what you think of the toolkit and the test!
Be sure to check out the discussion in the Economics & Personal Finance group entitled: Do you like our new interactive? that features the Budget Odyssey interactive provided by EconEdLink. This resource is great for helping high school students learn budgeting.
