    My name is Penny Hildinger.

I am interested in this group because my district (Bay City Public Schools, Michigan) is planning to use Google tools in our everyday workings.

      Welcome, Penny!

Thanks for kicking off this discussion. My name is Crystal Gasell and I currently am an Integration Technology Coach at a high school in SE Denver. Additionally, I work part time here as a community host. As a Google Certified Teacher, I was excited to get this group started. I hope it is a place where we can share and learn from one another.

My district has a Google Education domain and I am working with my teachers to utilize Google tools in their classroom. Recently, I worked with a social studies teacher who had her students write collaborative papers using Google Docs. Additionally, all our departments use Google Calendar. They really like how easy it is to share calendars. Also, most of our staff use Google Forms to create surveys and collect data from the community, other teachers and students.

I am a technology consultant and work part-time as a Community host.  Much of my time is spent looking for good educational resources for teachers and training teachers on integrating technology with 21st century learning.  I have used some of the Google tools, but I would like to become more knowledgeable about what's available from Google so I can share that information with other teachers.

Hey, everybody. Just going to copy and paste my intro from another group....

I'm Erica Boling. I'm an Associate Professor of Literacy Education at Rutgers University in New Jersey. My research looks at the role of technology in education. I've recently been supported by the Verizon Foundation to create 3 online courses that educate teachers on the uses of technology in K-12 classrooms. We are integrating Thinkfinity into these courses, and we also have a Thinkfinity community that was created for each class. The first course that we developed is currently being taught for the first time. The second course is currently in development and will be offered in fall semester. The third course will be developed this year and offered to students in Jan. 2011.

      Hi Erica,

Sounds like you are doing a great job introducing teachers to the idea of using technology effectively in the classroom. As I watched your video, I kept shaking my head, "yes, yes that is exactly what teachers need!"

I look forward to collaborating with you!

Thanks! I just gave a workshop today and introduced teachers to Animoto, SCREENR, etc. It's so cute, but the teachers who attended my session just a few hours ago are already emailing me, all excited, sharing the first movies and screencasts that they've ever made. You can tell they couldn't wait to share with somebody the things that they learned and created.

    Greetings!

I am an Instructional Technology Specialist at a PreK-5 elementary school in Florida.  My newest interests include utlizing Google Apps, blogging, and professional development.

As a Google Certified Teacher, I'm happy to find a group where I can share some of the things I am doing at my school, now that we've "Gone Google".  Implementation continues, lots of teacher training to do.  Hope to benefit from what others are doing as well.

Thanks for joining the group, Jeanne!

For those of you who don't know, Jeanne and I go WAY back. Six years ago we started working together as Master Digital Educators in Florida. Every summer, we travel around the state together facilitating training to teachers on innovative ways to use technology in the classroom. I love training with Jeanne! She has great stories and ideas!

When I moved to Colorado, Jeanne and I stayed in touch. She lights up my days by exchanging pictures and emails! Last June, Jeanne got to visit me when we were both accepted to the Google Teacher Academy in Boulder. It was fun to have my pal here in Colorado for a few days!

She is a great resource and I encourage you to get to know her better.

Hello! I'm a math teacher, concultant, and writer - I began teaching as a Peace Corps Volunteer in 1988 and have been in the field ever since. I've taught at an International School in Burkina Faso, at an inner city school in NYC, in a school in rural Maine, and for an Adult Ed program in NH, among others.

My main interest these days is finding ways to use available and evolving technology to reach more students, turn more kids on to math, and take understanding to a deeper level. Another interest is in finding ways to get teachers to try these new technologies and to change the way they teach - not an easy thing to do!
