The STEM acronym stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It refers to a culminating and inclusive approach to education. Educators are providing students with practical applications to concepts and information. STEM education is being promoted as a means to provide our students with skills that will help make them productive members of society. Students will be provided opportunities to develop critical thinking and reasoning, analytical abilities and problem-solving skills through classroom activities and lessons. The NGA Center for Best Practices website states that "state leaders increasingly view science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) achievement as a critical component of success in college, career and life."
