Today Common Sense Media CEO and founder James Steyer issued a statement of support in response to the announcement from Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) of his plans to introduce legislation supporting safeguards to protect student data. "We applaud Senator Markey's leadership on this important issue to ensure sensitive student data collected in schools where technology is used to advance student learning is safeguarded. The school zone should be a privacy zone." In October, Common Sense Media launched a School Privacy Zone campaign. And next month, Common Sense will convene a summit featuring key stakeholders and policymakers.
