Can you imagine what the stories written by your students would say using those titles as beginnings?
If you picked one of those titles to use as the start to a story (or a blog post), what ideas would you have?
Beginnings and titles may be small, but I think they are so important to all pieces of writing.
If you start reading a book, would a boring beginning encourage you to keep reading? What draws you to a blog post? Do you like to read things that have a catchy title? I think the title could be considered part of the beginning since it is the first part most people read.
I admit that I may overlook reading a story or blog post if the title doesn't capture my attention. I realize that is not a good thing, but it happens.
Normally when I write a blog post, the title is the last thing I write. I think it is an important piece that should reflect the whole blog post …. and many times, my blog posts don’t end up the way I thought they would when I started writing them.
What draws your attention to the blog posts and stories you read?
